What is a mini facelift?
A mini facelift is a slightly modified version of a traditional facelift. Both are invasive cosmetic procedures that involve the use of incisions to help remove and pull up sagging skin. The mini version usually has fewer incisions because candidates would have less excess skin to remove.
Difference between a mini and full facelift
The biggest difference between a mini facelift and a traditional facelift is the amount of skin and tissue that needs to be excised and elevated. Good candidates for a mini facelift still have decent laxity in their skin but are noticing a slight drooping in the lower face. Since the incisions are smaller, the recovery time is quicker and the scar is more discreet. This procedure is often used by our patients as early as their late 30s and beyond to curb the aging process and delay the need for a traditional facelift.
What to Expect During a Mini Face-Lift
A mini facelift can be done in the office, under local anesthesia and takes about 2 hours.
During a mini face-lift surgery, Dr.Maia will make an incision right in front of the ear in order to address loose skin and tighten tissue located just below the skin.
Patients are able to return to their home as soon as the procedure is completed.
After your surgery, you’ll be sent home with dressings over your stitches which will be removed in about 7-10 days after surgery.
When done correctly, mini-facelifts look like a natural aesthetic improvement rather than the overdone look that many people associate with cosmetic surgeries.

Healing Process and Scars
The facelift operation is safe and well-tolerated by patients. Discomfort is minimal and recovery is rapid for most patients. The incisions are well hidden even on a close-up examination. During the early phases of the healing process, the incisions may be swollen, with some redness and tenderness, but over time they become softer. Dr. Maia uses cutting edge techniques to carefully elevate the skin and underlying tissues and deliver beautiful, natural results with scars that are nearly imperceptible. Some degree of bruising and swelling is to be expected. This will resolve in 7-10 days.
Is there anything that can be added to enhance the results of the mini facelift?
A mini facelift can be combined with other surgical and non-surgical procedures in the office.
Most of the time, patients combine it with an upper blepharoplasty, brow lift and mini neck lift. Non-surgical procedures can also be done at the same time, like TCA peel or lasers treatments. These additions to the mini facelift improved the tone and texture of the skin, making the results even better.
