Lip Lift
The lips, like all facial features, can change over time. The skin loses elasticity, wrinkles form and lips can lose their volume. One common issue is a longer upper lip – the space between the nose base and upper lip can increase, and the upper lip can appear thinner. To achieve a fuller, short and more youthful upper lift, a lip lift or enhancement surgery can be performed. Dr. Munique Maia at Maia Plastic Surgery offers lip lift plastic surgery at our clinic in Tysons Corner, VA.
The upper lip defines the mouth. Aging can allow the lip to droop and lose volume, resulting in a longer and thinner upper lip. The vermillion, or pink, of the lip, can turn inward as the lip droops, revealing only a skinny, flat upper lip.
A lip lift can reduce the space between the upper lip and nose while expanding the pink portion of the upper lip. A small incision can be made (usually at the base of the nose) to access the skin and tissue of the upper lip. Removing excess skin and tightening the upper lip can reduce the space between the nose and lip, as well as reshape and expand the vermillion. This can create a more youthful and sensuous mouth.
